"Alphabay" and "Hansa Market": Big name of DarkWeb seized
The AlphaBay and Hansa Market
-DarkWeb sites had been associated with the trade in items such as drugs,
weapons, malware and stolen data online as well as offline. Hansa Market was
monitored for a month before being deactivated.
AlphaBay and Hansa were
accessible only through the Tor network, which presence a significant challenge
to law enforcement agents hoping to seize the host servers. It’s still unclear
how authorities were able to locate the servers or site admin, but it appears
to have been done without compromising the underlying protections of Tor.
The agency said it believed
the bust would lead to hundreds of new investigations in Europe. "The
capability of drug traffickers and other serious criminals around the world has
taken a serious hit today," said Europol's executive director Rob Wainwright.

After nonavailability of
Silk Road, AlphaBay became popular in 2014 and became a leader among dark web
marketplaces for selling drugs, carding material, exploits, and malware.
On 4th July, AlphaBay suddenly went down from its administrators, which left its customers in panic. Some of customers even suspected that the website's admins had went down and stole user funds.
However, last week it was
reported that the mysterious shut down of the darkweb site Alphabay was due to
a series of raids conducted by the international authorities.
The raid also resulted in
the arrest of Alexandre Cazes, a 26-year-old Canadian citizen who was one of
the alleged AlphaBay's operators and was awaiting extradition to the US when a
guard found him hanged in his jail cell the next day.
